Climbing
Barcelona became one of Europe's climbing cities: bouldering gyms in former industrial halls, roped walls and the real cliffs of Montserrat and Garraf half an hour away.
Bouldering first
The no-rope, short-climb format needs no partner, no certification and rental shoes: the easiest possible entry. Salas sell day passes and beginner circuits graded by color.
Roped walls and courses
Top-rope and lead climbing require a belay certification, which the same gyms teach in a weekend course. After that, the wall map opens completely.
Outdoors, soon enough
Montserrat and Garraf granite plus the Pyrenees a bit further make the city a genuine climbing base. Gyms organize outings; local guide services teach the transition safely.
